Bi-folding doors, installed detail — the Sosoares HT sash stack folded back against the reveal

Hinged Systems · Sosoares thermal-break bi-folding system

HT Bi-Folding System

Overview

HT is the Sosoares answer where an opening has to disappear rather than slide past itself. Two to seven sashes fold and stack against the reveal, clearing close to the full structural opening — the practical maximum aperture available in the range. The 77 mm frame and sash carry a polyamide thermal break, and the system is tested for air, water and wind at ITeCons. It is deliberately a mechanical rather than a performance proposition: Sosoares publishes no thermal transmittance and no acoustic result for HT, and KR does not infer either from the casement systems that share the platform's construction.

Thermal-break bi-folding in 2 to 7 sashes, to 3.50 m high. Catalogued as "HT — Sistema de harmónio com corte térmico"; the Sosoares website lists it as "HT System — folding system with thermal break" under Hinged / With Thermal Break

Product highlights in detail

Configuration

2 to 7 sashes, folding and stacking against the reveal.

Dimensional limits

100 or 120 kg per sash, to 4.20 m² each.

Frame dimensions

77 mm fixed and mobile frame, in 136 and 130 mm folding assemblies.

Key system data

  • Aluminium: 77 mm
  • Mobile Frame: 77 mm
  • Max Weight: 120 kg
  • Max Height: 3500 mm
  • Weather Resist: EN 12208 7A
  • Wind Load: EN 12210 B1
  • Glazing: 50 mm
  • Sash Count: 7 sashes

Frame and sash depth are both 77 mm. Maximum weight is the upper of the two published hardware allowances, 100 kg or 120 kg per sash, with a maximum sash area of 4.20 m². Watertightness class 7A and wind resistance class B1 are from ITeCons AEV report CLX 07522/22, which also records air permeability class 4. Glazing 50 mm is the upper limit of the catalogue's 14–50 mm range. Sosoares publishes no thermal transmittance, no acoustic reduction, no security class and no fire rating for HT, and none is claimed here.

01 — Planning benefit

Planning benefit

HT is set out from the sash module. Sash length is capped at 1.20 m and height at 3.50 m, so the number of sashes follows from the opening width rather than being chosen. Confirm the stacking side and the reveal depth early — the folded stack needs somewhere to go.

Configuration

  • Sash count: 2 to 7, per the catalogue typology set.
  • Minimum sash length: 0.60 m on odd sash counts, 0.651 m on even.
  • Maximum sash length: 1.20 m.
  • Maximum height: 3.50 m.
  • Profile cuts at 45° or 90°.

Dimensional limits

  • Sash weight: 100 kg or 120 kg depending on the hardware set.
  • Maximum sash area: 4.20 m².
  • Glazing: 14–50 mm as published in the catalogue. The Sosoares website shows a narrower 17–50 mm; KR quotes the catalogue range and confirms the glass build-up at order.
  • Polyamide thermal break: 24 or 32 mm.

Frame dimensions

  • Fixed frame: 77 mm.
  • Mobile frame: 77 mm.
  • Catalogue plan sections show 136 mm and 130 mm folding assemblies at 77 mm depth.

02 — System integration

System integration

  • Maximum aperture — Folding is the only mechanism in the Sosoares range that clears close to the whole structural opening. Where a sliding system always parks a sash across part of the opening, HT stacks clear of it — which is the reason to accept the visible sash stack.

  • Reveal and stacking allowance — The folded stack occupies real depth beside the opening. KR agrees the stacking side, the reveal depth and the threshold detail with the builder before fabrication, because these cannot be resolved on site.

  • Threshold and drainage — A bi-folding threshold carries both the running gear and the water line. KR sets out the sill, the drainage path and the finished-floor junction as a single detail rather than three.

  • No published thermal or acoustic result — Sosoares publishes air, water and wind classifications for HT but no Uw and no Rw. Where a project sets a thermal or acoustic target on a large opening, KR specifies OS-Triple or an ST casement, both of which carry tested values, rather than claiming a figure for HT.

04 — Awards & accreditations

Awards & accreditations

  • ITeCons AEV test report CLX 07522/22: air permeability class 4, watertightness class 7A, wind resistance class B1.

  • Initial Type Test (ITT) for HT is published by Sosoares behind a trade login.

  • No thermal transmittance (Uw) is published for HT by either official source, and none is claimed.

  • No airborne sound reduction (Rw) is published for HT by either official source, and none is claimed.

  • No security class and no fire rating are published for HT, and neither is claimed.

  • Qualicoat Seaside powder-coating and Qualanod anodising quality marks apply to the Sosoares surface-treatment plant that finishes these profiles.

  • Test classifications quoted here are the European and Portuguese results published by Sosoares. They are not Australian certifications; KR confirms project compliance against the relevant Australian standards and the project wind study at tender stage.

Who makes this

Grupo Sosoares originates from "Sosoares – Máquinas e Ferragens, Lda.", founded in 1979, and today comprises four companies (Sosoares S.A., Alfa Sul S.A., Alulider Lda., Portalex S.A.) covering design, development, production and commercialisation of aluminium frames and glass systems under the own brand "Sistemas Euro 2000®".

05 — Technical information

Technical information

Figures are published Sosoares system maxima, minima and test results, stated with the standard or test reference under which they were determined. Project values depend on configuration, glazing build-up and installation, and are confirmed by KR at tender.
