Straight, Oval, Concealed and Steel lines across casement, door, tilt-turn, hopper, awning, tilt-slide, folding and pivot.
Hinged Systems · Sosoares thermal-break casement family
ST is the best-documented casement system Sosoares publishes, and the one KR reaches for when a project sets a genuine thermal or acoustic target. The thermally optimised 71 mm frame takes selective double or triple glazing from 18 to 54 mm — deep enough to reach Uw 0.96 W/m²K, and to record Rw 45 dB in an independent acoustic test. Four lines sit on the platform. Straight and Oval are the visible-sash lines. ST-Oculta conceals the sash behind a 47 mm face so a casement can be detailed alongside the OS minimalist sliders without breaking the sightline. ST-Steel, a 78 mm line, recreates the proportions of a steel window in thermally broken aluminium.

Published Sosoares system characteristics for the ST | ST-Steel:
Straight, Oval, Concealed and Steel lines across casement, door, tilt-turn, hopper, awning, tilt-slide, folding and pivot.
70 to 180 kg per sash by typology; glazing 18 to 54 mm on the visible-sash lines.
71 mm frame with a 78 mm sash on the visible lines, 70 mm on the concealed line, 78 mm on ST-Steel.
Frame depth is the 71 mm ST fixed frame; ST-Steel is 78 mm. Face width 47 mm is the ST-Oculta concealed-sash face — the visible-sash lines show an 85 mm face. Maximum weight 180 kg applies to the door and tilt-and-turn typologies; other typologies range down to 70 kg. Thermal values are ISO 10077-1/-2:2017 results, Uw 0.96 W/m²K with Ug 0.50 W/m²K triple glazing and Uw 1.35 W/m²K with Ug 1.00 W/m²K double glazing. Acoustic Rw 45 dB (-1;-4;0;-4) is ITeCons ACL 358/20 for ST; ST-Oculta records Rw 42 dB under ACL 168/22. Water E1350 and wind C5 are from ITeCons AEV report CLX 062/15. The ST technical catalogue is dated November 2022 against a 2026 master catalogue, so KR treats these values as provisional and reconfirms them with Sosoares before a submission is signed.
01 — Planning benefit
ST is selected on glazing depth and sash weight. The 18 to 54 mm glazing range is what makes the low Uw reachable, so fix the glass build-up first, then check the sash against the 70 to 180 kg per-typology limits, then choose the line — visible sash, concealed sash or steel-look.
02 — System integration
ST-Oculta concealed sash — The sash is hidden behind a 47 mm face, which lets a casement sit on an elevation next to an OS minimalist slider without the sightline stepping. ST-Oculta publishes its own acoustic report at Rw 42 dB, but no AEV or thermal result — where those govern, the visible-sash line is specified.
ST-Steel steel-look line — A 78 mm line conceived, in Sosoares' words, to recreate in aluminium the distinctive design of steel frames. It suits heritage, industrial-look and design-led work that wants slim steel proportions with thermal-break performance. Available in lacquered, anodised and bicolour finishes.
Selective triple glazing — The 54 mm upper glazing limit accepts a selective triple build-up, which is what carries the system to Uw 0.96 W/m²K with Ug 0.50 W/m²K. Glass selection is where most of the thermal result is won on this system.
Concealed actuators and hidden tilt-turn kits — Sosoares documents concealed actuators and hidden tilt-and-turn hardware kits for the ST platform. No sash motorisation is published, so none is offered.
Coordination with LT — Where the 71 mm depth is more than a project needs, the 67 mm LT casement shares the same typology logic on a shallower frame. KR runs the comparison at design stage rather than defaulting to one or the other.

Sections, renders and project photography reproduced from the Sosoares product catalogue. Architect and photographer credits are carried through as published.
Not supplied Further ST photography held back pending clearance
Two more ST frames appear in the catalogue. One merges two separate projects and two photographers into a single caption, so an individual frame cannot be attributed. The other names a project that does not appear in the official Sosoares imagery record. Both are withheld until written clearance and a corrected credit are obtained.

ST-Steel is CE marked to NP EN 14351-1 with air class 4 (EN 12207:2000), watertightness E1350 (EN 12208:2000) and wind class C5 (EN 12210:2000), tested on a 1.60 × 2.10 m two-sash window. No independent AEV or acoustic report is published for ST-Steel alone.
No AEV or thermal result is published for ST-Oculta; only its acoustic report is available, and no other figure is claimed for that line.
The ST technical catalogue is dated November 2022. KR treats its values as provisional against the 2026 master catalogue and reconfirms them with Sosoares before a technical submission is signed.
Qualicoat Seaside powder-coating and Qualanod anodising quality marks apply to the Sosoares surface-treatment plant that finishes these profiles.
Test classifications quoted here are the European and Portuguese results published by Sosoares. They are not Australian certifications; KR confirms project compliance against the relevant Australian standards and the project wind study at tender stage.
Grupo Sosoares originates from "Sosoares – Máquinas e Ferragens, Lda.", founded in 1979, and today comprises four companies (Sosoares S.A., Alfa Sul S.A., Alulider Lda., Portalex S.A.) covering design, development, production and commercialisation of aluminium frames and glass systems under the own brand "Sistemas Euro 2000®".
